Jnana Darsanam—Vision of Wisdom

Verse - 2

अहन्तयाऽन्तर्बहिरस्ति यदेवमिदन्तया ।

भावव्रत्त्याऽन्वितं यत्तु ज्ञानं सोपाधिकं मतम् ॥ २ ॥

The ego-sense within is outside, so what is outside

Connected to the functions of vital awareness is thus understood as conditioned wisdom.

Commentary

Conditioned wisdom having no true and lasting basis, is outside the Self. If it is asked how wisdom can be both conditioned and unconditioned, we answer that conditioned wisdom is really non-wisdom which to the unwise covers over wisdom as the great poet-sage teaches in the Bhagavad Gita (V. 15). Just as there is a higher Self-knower or a non-egotistical knowledge of the Self, so there is a lower non-Self knower or a lower egotistical knowledge of the non-Self connected to vital awareness and the shining forth of the spread out relative world.
